Christina Hankins is an artist based outside of Minneapolis. She studied under Ed Bereal and Karen Carson, professors of drawing and painting, at the U.C. Irvine School of fine art located in southern California. She is the mother of four children, a dog and a cat and is married to a lovely man named Bob.
Hankins, a traveler between mediums, works in oil paint and chalk pastel. Her images are a playful reflection on her life experiences juggling both motherhood and career. Her favorite subject matter is the human form put into a narrative context.
About her work Hankins says,
“I paint about what I have experienced in life, mostly tiny moments that I have reflected on and deemed important. The content of my work is derived from self analysis and observation of the world around me and embracing the chaos of it all. My images are narrative portrayals of women taking stock of their environment. Some are images of the fleeting quiet moments with children, hopeful romantic encounters, or the calm within the chaos. There is no better way for me to translate all that I have experienced than through the visual language of my work.”
